Following the success of restaurants such as Bitterman and Meat Shop, the client set out to expand their hospitality portfolio with a new concept designed for growth.
Rather than launching another single-location restaurant, the ambition was to create a strong dining brand that could eventually be replicated across multiple locations.
The idea was to develop a diner-style concept — a format known for its comfort, accessibility, and social energy. However, the goal was not to recreate a nostalgic American diner. Instead, the client wanted a concept that would feel contemporary, confident, and relevant to Bangkok’s evolving dining culture.
The challenge was to build a brand that captures the warmth and familiarity of diner culture while elevating its execution and identity.
Solution
Our approach was to define Butler as a New Wave Diner — a concept positioned between classic diner comfort and modern restaurant refinement. Rather than leaning into retro nostalgia, the brand focuses on clarity, confidence, and generous hospitality.
The visual identity was designed to create a bold and recognisable presence while remaining flexible enough to support future expansion. A strong red signature anchors the brand, paired with warm neutral tones and confident typography that give the brand both personality and clarity.
To reinforce Butler’s approachable character, a series of playful illustrations and graphic elements were introduced across menus, packaging, and communications. These details add warmth and humour while maintaining a polished and contemporary feel.
Alongside the identity, we developed Butler’s tone of voice and digital launch presence, establishing a communication style that is light, witty, and slightly dry — reflecting a restaurant built around generous plates, good company, and everyday dining moments.
Outcome
Butler introduces a fresh interpretation of diner culture to Bangkok’s dining scene.
By combining comfort food with contemporary design and a confident brand personality, the concept creates a dining experience that feels both familiar and new.
